This information has been supplied by Nissan Australia.
Nissan places a
high priority on responsible and effective environmental focus. Accordingly, Nissan has taken
a holistic attitude to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, advancing the
fuel-economical performance of Nissan engines, extremely proficient transmissions, low weight, high strength
vehicle body designs and vehicles with optimised aerodynamics to reduce wind resistance.
Some examples of Nissan's advances with this technology are shown in some recently released
Nissan vehicles such as the Nissan Murano, Nissan Maxima and Nissan 350Z.
Should I run my Nissan vehicle on fuel which
contains ethanol?
If your Nissan
vehicle has a manufacture date of 1 January 2004 or later, it is able to operate on
ethanol blends of up to 10% ethanol (E10), as long as these conditions are adhered
to:
-
The
fuel (including any ethanol-blend) meets the Australian Fuel Quality Standards
criteria,
-
The Nissan vehicle has a validated service history that complies with the
Nissan recommended service schedules for that Nissan vehicle.
-
The fuel blending process ( petrol/ethanol) has been completed at a refinery and
the resulting blended fuel has been properly made (i.e., the fuel has not been 'splash'
blended).
If your Nissan vehicle has a
manufacture date before 1 January 2004, although it may be abale to operate on
ethanol-blended unleaded petrol, Nissan does NOT recommend the use of ethanol-blended fuel in these Nissan
vehicles.
Should I run my diesel Nissan vehicle on diesel fuel which
contains biodiesel?
The AFQS2
(Australian Fuel Quality Standards) are based on EN 5901 which has
specified that no more than 5.0 % BIODIESEL3 may be mixed with DIESEL4 fuel.
Nissan states and
specifies that DIESEL fuel should be used in all Nissan diesel-engined
vehicles.
Nissan cannot
recommend the usage of fuel other than DIESEL in Nissan diesel-engined
vehicles.
Should I run my Nissan vehicle on LPG?
Nissan does not
manufacture, supply, source or recommend LPG equipment for the range of Nissan vehicles on
sale in Australia.
LPG has several major differences from petrol. These include, but are not necessarily
limited to: differing combustion temperatures, differing fuel consumption characteristics and differing
exhaust emissions.
Therefore, although
Nissan vehicles may be capable of operating on LPG, Nissan does NOT recommend the use of LPG fuel
in Nissan petrol-engine vehicles. It should also be
noted that Nissan does not warrant the installation of LPG fuel systems to any Nissan vehicles nor is it
responsible for any vehicle failure, mechanical or otherwise, attributable to or damage resultant from,
any such LPG installation in a Nissan vehicle.
