- Maintenance
Schedules

Your Nissan's Fuel
Only use petrol with
the octane level recommended in your Nissan Owner's Manual. A common misunderstanding is that octane measures
the quality or power capabilities of petrol. In fact, the octane simply rates the petrol's
resistance to detonation or 'pinging'. So using higher-than-recommended octane petrol may be a waste of
money, while lower-than-recommended octane may result in poor performance.
Avoid running the
tank too close to 'Empty'. Petrol impurities and sediments collect at the bottom of your tank and may
cause problems if they are drawn into your Nissan's fuel line.
Your Nissan's Oil
Check your oil
regularly and change it according to the maintenance schedule. Driving without sufficient oil can cause
irreparable engine damage.
Here's how to check
the oil:
Run the engine until
it reaches operating temperature.
Park the vehicle on
a level surface and ensure that the parking brake is applied.
Turn off the engine.
Wait a few minutes for the oil to drain back into the oil pan.
Remove the dipstick
and wipe it clean with a clean rag or paper. Reinsert it completely.
Remove the dipstick
again and check the oil level on the markings on the dipstick. It should be between "H" and "L". If the level
is over "H", have it drained back to the right level, if the oil level is below "L", remove the oil filler
cap and add the recommended oil. Do not overfill.
Recheck oil level
with dipstick.

this, please contact Hardman Nissan
Under the Bonnet of your Nissan
Regularly check the
following under the bonnet:
Fluid levels: oil, coolant, brake fluid, power-steering fluid.
Automatic-transmission fluid level after putting your vehicle in "Park" with the engine
idling. See your Owner's Manual for detailed instructions.
Hoses for deformation, cracks, or loose connections that may lead to
overheating.
Engine drive-belts for fraying, cracks, wearing, or oil
contamination.
Radiator external fins for insects, leaves or dirt that may have caught or
accumulated.
Your Nissan's Interior
There are a number
of things you can check without leaving the driver's seat of your Nissan:
Do the seatbelts
operate smoothly and properly? Inspect the belt webbing for wear, fraying or
damage.
Ensure that all
gauges and indicator lights are working and that they indicate normal measurements - fuel, oil, battery,
temperature.
Check brakes -
they should operate smoothly. Your Nissan's brake pedal should be firm and the vehicle should not pull
to one side when you are braking.
Check for
steering-wheel vibration, overly stiff steering or unusual noises. If your vehicle pulls to one side,
have your tyres and wheel alignment checked by Hardman Nissan.
Your Nissan's
accelerator pedal should not catch or require uneven effort to apply. Ensure that your floor mats are
always clear of the pedals.
Check that your
Nissan's washer and wipers are functioning properly, and that they do not streak the
glass.
Ensure that
air/heat blows properly from the defroster vents.
If the exhaust note
sounds unusual, or you smell exhaust fumes, roll down windows and take the vehicle to Hardman
Nissan immediately.
Your Nissan's Exterior
A simple walk around
your car can reveal several things which may save you time, effort, money and safety if you attend to them
promptly:
Check the tyres to
see if any appear to be under-inflated, showing any cracks, unusual or uneven wear or puncture marks
( by nails, glass, metal, etc. )
Check that all
wheel nuts are in place and tight.
Ensure headlights,
tail lights, brake lights, and indicators operate properly.
Check headlight aim
according to the aiming instructions in your Nissan Owner's Manual.
Check the blades of
yourwindscreen wipers for cracks or wear.
Inspect underneath the vehicle for a low-hanging muffler, anything
caught under the vehicle ( small tre branches, road debris, etc. ) or anything that looks
abnormal.
Look for
possible fluid leaks.
If you see anything
unusual, call a Service Advisor at Hardman Nissan on 6772 8411 to
check whether the issue requires you to bring your vehicle in for an
appointment/inspection.
Flat Tyre on your Nissan?
Park your Nissan on
a level, solid surface. Apply the park brake and shift manual transmission into "Reverse" or auto
transmission into "Park."
If you decide to
change the tyre yourself, follow the instructions for jacking your vehicle in your Nissan Owner's
Manual.
Never change tyres
when the vehicle is on a slope or slippery area. Also, never change tyres if traffic is close to your vehicle
- as far as practicable you should slowly move your vehicle to a safe spot.
Observe the speed
and distance limits where applicable on temporary spare wheel/tyre assemblies.
